Why I Love Being in the Kitchen
The kitchen has always been more than just a place to cookâitâs where love, learning, and memories come together. From a young age, I was drawn to the heart of the home, whether it was helping my grandma cook, licking salt off the table with my big brother, or lining up my stuffed animals in the family room to teach them everything I had learned that day. The kitchen has always been a place of warmth, connection, and creativity for me.
My maternal grandmother was my guide in so many ways, and even though she is no longer physically here, she continues to inspire me. She taught me the magic of foodânot just as nourishment but as an expression of love, care, and tradition. Every time I step into the kitchen, I feel her presence, as if she is still guiding my hands and whispering recipes into my heart.
The connections run deep. My youngest daughter, Serenity, was born at 8:11 AMâa time that holds special significance in my life. It happens to be the birthday of my grandmotherâs beloved dog, Mochaween, and, in a beautiful twist of fate, 8/11 is the reverse of my grandmotherâs birthday, 1/18. These little synchronicities remind me that the love and lessons from my grandmother are woven into every part of my life, including the time I cherish in the kitchen.
But my love for creating doesnât stop at cooking. Just as the kitchen is my sanctuary, so is the space where I craft my herbal products. Blending oils, infusing herbs, and formulating balms is not just a business for meâitâs a deeply healing process. Every product I make carries the same love and intention as the meals I prepare for my family. Itâs a way of passing on knowledge, honoring natureâs gifts, and creating something that can bring comfort and relief to others.
Whether Iâm stirring a pot on the stove or mixing a new herbal salve, I find healing in the process. The scents, the textures, the quiet moments of creationâit all soothes my soul. Being in the kitchen and making my products are both acts of love, of connection, of honoring those who came before me while building something beautiful for the future.
For me, creatingâwhether in the form of food or herbal remediesâis about preserving memories, sharing love, and continuing the legacy of those who have shaped me. Every ingredient, every scent, every stir of the spoon, and every blend of herbs reminds me that I am connected to something greater, something timeless. And that is why I love being in the kitchen and making my products.
